What is true worship? Is worship something that is done on Sunday, Wednesdays, or Fridays? Do I have to be at church to worship? The Bible says in John 4:24 (KJV) God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth. So how do I worship the Spirit in spirit and truth? Galatians 5:22-23 (KJV) 22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, 23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. I look at this as a test 1) Love, has someone done something to you in the past week that you hold it against them? Have you gossiped this week?
if so you missed the first question, so far I'm failing. 2) Joy, have you let the circumstances of life overcome your countenance? Have you shown the hope of Salvation to someone this week? once again if your answer is no you missed it, I know I did. 3) Peace, are you at peace with your conscience? Are you at peace with those around you? 4) Longsuffering, Have you bore someone else's pain this week? 5) Gentleness, have you had sweet fellowship with someone this week? Have you been a delightful person to be around? 6) Goodness, have you done good for others? This is not just sharing the physical things you have, but also the spiritual. Have you stopped to share what God is doing in you? So how are you doing so far, I have to say that I'm failing the worship test. 7) Faith, Adam Clark says in his commentary on this passage that faith is: "Faith] pistiv, here used for fidelity-punctuality in performing promises, conscientious carefulness in preserving what is committed to our trust, in restoring it to its proper owner, in transacting the business confided to us, neither betraying the secret of our friend, nor disappointing the confidence of our employer." so, have you accurately portrayed Christ to someone this week? Have you had faith enough to truly say, Lord I trust it all into your hands? 8) Meekness, or not seeking revenge. Has someone done wrong to you and all you can think about is revenging him/her? 9) Temperance, have you shown restrain? Not just in the area of anger, but in what you have listened to, watched, and said? Against such there is no law, or there is no way to go wrong when you follow these.

You want to worship God in spirit and truth, well its not just at church. When you leave church on Sunday your worship service is beginning. Worship is a attitude of reverence toward God, living a life blameless before him. This hit me hard this weekend, I go to church every Sunday and walk out and go back to my old sinful ways. That's not worship, worship is an every day event. Can you honestly say that the Lord would be pleased with every action you did last week?
How did you do on that test, I failed?
