Mic 6:6 ¶ Wherewith shall I come before the LORD, and bow myself before the high God? shall I come before him with burnt offerings, with calves of a year old? 7 Will the LORD be pleased with thousands of rams, or with ten thousands of rivers of oil? shall I give my firstborn for my transgression, the fruit of my body for the sin of my soul? 8 He hath shewed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the LORD require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God?
For years this has been one of my favorite passages, but today during church the Lord brought out a new though from it. This morning when I woke up I found out the the campus was closed, which means that no one can leave campus due to the slick roads. Well to say the least I was somewhat discouraged but soon found out that the Lord had something in store for me.
Many times I have read this passage and thought only of what I should do for Christ, but it doesn't just mean what I do. All of those things are good, to bow before the most high God, to bring burnt offerings, thousands of lambs. But even though those aren't bad things those are not what matters in life. What matters is our personal walk with the Lord. I believe that this passage is dealing with our focus, is my focus on what I do rather than who I serve. I serve a great God, why in the world do I need a week world.
I know that in my life I can't truly say that he is all I need. I don't think we can ever say that 100 % of the time. But that's my goal, to live totally and completely in, with, and for Him. I don't ever want to get to the point that I will get so focused on my "ministries" that I forget to Focus on my God. Now don't get me wrong, I should do those things but if I ever get to the point that I am doing those things to fulfill my religious check sheet then its time for a religious checkup. The whole point isn't what I can do, its what He can do through me.
Why do I do what I do? If its not to bring glory to my Maker than it aught not be done at all.
