Works of God: Joseph

Today in church we continued our study of Hebrews 11. Today was the study of Joseph. WOW what a blessing/challenge that was! Joseph had a unbelievably dysfunctional family, everyone was set against him, he was under constant attack by the devil to sin, quit and respond in anger. But Joseph was a "right responder". Here is the outline of the sermon:

I. God has a plan
-our response to God shows our faith in God
II. We may suffer for Gods greater purposes
III. Now prepares us for later
-our life on earth is not wasted, it is happening for a specific purpose
IV. God is faithful
-this is the base of our belief

When Joseph came to the end of his hard life, because of his faithfulness in the Lord he was able to say man meant it for evil but God meant it for good. Wouldn't that be great, to run our race, pressing onward in faith and when it comes to an end we can look back and say, I have ran my race, I have finished my course and it was not run in vain. Oh, I may have stopped, stumbled and slowed down at times but I always got up and pressed onward. We all fail, that is a fact of life. I don't want to minimize sin, sin is a big deal, but we a feeble humans will sin. So when we sin get up, look up and press on.
